Cal-Rite
Cal-Rite is a mixture of formic acid and formaldehyde, which allows for simultaneous decalcification and fixation. This product eliminates poor hematoxylin and eosin staining caused by over-decalcification and/or exposure to harsh mineral acids. Conventional iron staining also benefits from the properties of this product. Even after prolonged exposure of specimens in Cal-Rite, nuclear chromatin staining is well preserved and not distorted.
